Who belongs to your family / who is living with you?
I am married. My wife and I have 4 children.
How has beekeeping changed your life?
I have just started so far only 2 harvests but am seeing the future will be bright for me if I increase the number of colonized beehives from 8 to 50 hives like my friends who are earning big from the sales of honey. Beekeeping has made me create many friends and move a lot to visit other beekeepers in different areas.
How do you provide a good environment for your bees?
I do not do much as my bees are quite self-sufficient. I planted trees to provide flowers for the bees.
What do trees mean to you and how can they be protected?
Trees help improve soil fertility and provide valuable shade. They also provide good food for my bees as well as for my family.
The bees love the tree flowers, and we love the tree fruits. I am training my children and the neighbors the best benefits of the trees so that they don’t cut them.
What is the most important thing in your life?
A big piece of land so that I can expand my beekeeping.
What are your biggest challenges and how do you plan to overcome them?
Weak bee colonies that give very low production. Another challenge is delayed colonization of new hives, but I have tried to learn baiting methods like use of wax and lemon grass to attract bees.
Local hives get spoilt very fast and do not last long so I always change the colonies to new hives then I repair them. Finally, pests like ants, termites and others are a challenge. I use grease and smear it on the stands to avoid them climbing up to the hives.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I go rear my goats in my free time.

I would love to travel to London.
